The Science and Environment Club provides students with meaningful opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and the science behind them. Through a range of hands-on and experiential activities, students learn to care for their surroundings while cultivating a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
In Semester 1, students will work closely with partners such as NParks to learn how to care for community plants. They will also be introduced to sustainable practices such as growing vegetables using aeroponics, understanding how eco-digesters reduce food waste, and participating in upcycling activities that promote resourcefulness.
In Semester 2, students will continue their aeroponics projects and expand their learning through activities such as bird watching, mushroom cultivation and harvesting, and monitoring biodiversity within the school. Students will also contribute to the creation of the Canberra Nature Bulletin, where they document and share their observations.
Through these experiences, students develop scientific inquiry skills, environmental awareness, and a strong sense of stewardship, empowering them to play an active role in creating a greener and more sustainable school community.
