Kindergarten School Experience
The Kindergarten School Experience provided Canberra Primary student leaders with meaningful opportunities to interact with and support preschoolers through engaging activities conducted around the school. Planned and facilitated by our student leaders, the experience allowed them to apply their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills in authentic settings, while creating a warm and welcoming environment for the young visitors.
During the visit, the preschoolers toured key areas of the school, participated in simple classroom activities, experienced purchasing items at the bookshop, and interacted with students from various CCAs. Throughout these activities, our student leaders demonstrated care, responsibility, and initiative as they guided, encouraged, and supported the preschoolers, ensuring they felt welcomed and engaged.
The experience also enabled our student leaders to put into practice important values and social-emotional competencies such as empathy, confidence, collaboration, and effective communication. Beyond serving as ambassadors of the school, they learnt the importance of being positive role models and creating meaningful experiences that helped ease the preschoolers' transition into primary school.
This experience reflects the school's commitment to nurturing caring, confident, and responsible learners by providing authentic leadership opportunities that empower students to grow as leaders, role models, and active contributors to the community.
